Strategy / Technology strategy

Make the next technology decision a business decision.

Sky Link helps owner-led businesses turn a recurring operational problem into a practical technology direction. We start with the people doing the work, the systems they rely on, and the decisions that keep getting delayed.

The starting point

Name the work that keeps getting stuck.

A quote waits for someone to find the right information. A request passes between email, a spreadsheet and a conversation. The owner becomes the only person who can resolve an exception. Buying another tool can leave those handoffs untouched.

A useful strategy starts with one concrete workflow: how work arrives, who acts on it, where information lives, and what a finished result looks like. For a small team, the time spent maintaining a solution matters as much as the time it might save.

The decision

Improve, buy, integrate, or build.

We examine the current process before recommending a replacement. That includes who owns the work, which information is authoritative, how systems exchange it, and where people need judgment rather than another automated step.

  • Improve the process when ownership or sequencing is the real constraint.
  • Buy when an existing product fits the work and can be maintained by the team.
  • Integrate when the right systems exist but their handoffs create duplicate effort.
  • Build when a distinctive workflow, interaction or control genuinely needs custom software.

AI readiness

Give AI a job you can evaluate.

An AI roadmap should identify specific decisions or interpretation tasks, not simply add a chatbot. We look at the available evidence, the consequences of a wrong answer, and the point where a person should review the result.

The question is whether a bounded task can support a real workflow. Calculation, access controls and business rules still need explicit enforcement. A task that cannot yet be evaluated may need better inputs or a smaller pilot before it needs a model.

Working together

Start with one real problem.

Bring an example of the work, the systems involved and someone who can explain the exceptions. Discovery establishes what needs further investigation and which tradeoffs matter; it does not assume that a software build is the answer.

Before an implementation, agree on what to observe: waiting time, repeated entry, correction effort, incomplete requests or another relevant baseline. Scope and the next decision follow from the evidence. A strategy engagement can also identify a Foundation issue that needs attention first.
